Fozia Bibi, a resident of village Awan, in Tehsil Paharpur, District Dera Ismail Khan; connected with HEADS organization through its dedicated WCSS’s facilitator. She shared her harrowing journey: “For a year and a half, I’ve been married, but it’s been a period marked by immense suffering.” Her husband subjected her to physical assault, emotional abuse, and psychological torment. Despite her desperate need for support, he refused to provide any financial assistance.
“For the past five months, I’ve been living with my parents,” Fozia said, her voice tinged with both relief and sorrow. “I’m seven months pregnant, and yet, my husband still refuses to accept me or provide any kind of support.” Adding to her distress, he accused her of not initiating divorce proceedings, a cruel twist in her already challenging situation.
Fozia’s plight reached our ears, and we knew we had to act. HEADS and IRC organized counseling sessions for her, providing a compassionate ear and professional guidance. She found solace in these sessions and, eventually, we helped her secure admission to our WCSS program in village Awan.
“At WCSS, I’ve found a place of peace and support,” Fozia shared. The program offered her a safe and healthy environment, far from the turmoil she had endured. She also acquired valuable skills in stitching, opening up new avenues for her future. “Now, I feel more satisfied and hopeful,” she said, a smile breaking through her previously worried expression. “I am very thankful to both IRC and HEADS for giving me a chance to rebuild my life.”
In Fozia’s words, we find a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the profound impact of community support. “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step,” and for Fozia, that step was reaching out to WCSS. Now, with newfound skills and a supportive network, she is poised to create a better future for herself and her child.
Through IRC and HEADS’ support and the WCSS program, Fozia Bibi has transformed her life, showing that even in the face of adversity, there is hope for a brighter future.
