Overcoming Obstacles: Ghulam Abbas’ Journey To Success

In the quiet village of Saidan Wali, nestled in the heart of Tehsil Paharpur, District Dera Ismail Khan, a heartwarming success story was quietly unfolding. At the tender age of 11, Ghulam Abbas, the son of Sayed Saqlain Shah, was proving that determination, support, and a caring community can conquer even the most challenging obstacles.

Ghulam Abbas is a differently abled child, facing numerous challenges in his daily life. For him, the simple act of reaching the Women and Child Safe Space (WCSS) established by the HEADS organization was an uphill battle. However, the organization, in collaboration with the International Rescue Committee (IRC), was determined to make a difference in Ghulam’s life.

Initially, Ghulam Abbas found it incredibly difficult to reach the WCSS center and participate in the various extracurricular activities offered there. His mobility issues posed a significant barrier, and it was clear that a solution was needed to help him overcome this challenge.

With unwavering support from the HEADS organization and the IRC, a breakthrough came in the form of a wheelchair specially designed to cater to Ghulam’s needs. The moment Ghulam received his new wheelchair, his face lit up with an infectious smile that radiated joy and satisfaction.

Ghulam Abbas personally expressed his happiness and newfound freedom, saying, “I am so happy now. I can easily and comfortably reach the WCSS center on time and participate with my fellow friends in various activities.” This simple change had a profound impact on his life, allowing him to be an active part of the community and fully enjoy the opportunities available to him. Sayed Saqlain Shah, Ghulam Abbas’s father, shared his heartfelt gratitude, saying, “We’re really grateful to the HEADS and IRC organizations, not only for providing a wheelchair to my son but also for establishing centers for women and children in our village. It’s contributing excellently to our community’s well-being.”
