HEADS and ACF Provide Winterization Assistance to Vulnerable Communities in Upper Chitral
Project Duration: 11 February – 12 March 2026
Health Education and Development Society (HEADS), in partnership with Action Against Hunger (ACF), successfully implemented a winterization intervention in Upper Chitral, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to support vulnerable households affected by extreme cold, heavy snowfall, and limited access to essential resources.
The intervention provided winterization kits containing blankets, warm clothing, and floor mats, prioritizing female-headed households, elderly persons, persons with disabilities, widows, orphans, and families with young children. Awareness sessions on cold-weather safety, health protection, and safe heating practices were also conducted to strengthen household winter preparedness.
With the support of local community structures and authorities, assistance was delivered through accessible distribution points and home deliveries for individuals with mobility limitations. A Feedback and Complaint Response Mechanism (FCRM) was also established to ensure transparency and community accountability.
Through these efforts, the initiative contributed to improved winter preparedness, reduced exposure to cold-related risks, and safer, more dignified living conditions for vulnerable communities in Upper Chitral.
