The project was implemented by the Health Education and Development Society (HEADS) to improve access to safe drinking water and strengthen hygiene practices among underserved and vulnerable communities in District Charsadda.

The intervention focused on the installation of 28 shallow hand pumps to provide households with a reliable and accessible source of clean drinking water, particularly in communities affected by water insecurity and the impacts of previous flooding.

• Community representatives were supported with knowledge and tools for the operation and maintenance of hand pumps, helping ensure their continued functionality.

Project Impact

The intervention improved access to safe drinking water for vulnerable households and helped reduce the challenges associated with collecting water from distant or potentially unsafe sources. The project also promoted improved hygiene practices and strengthened community ownership of local water infrastructure.
